Mumbai Goa bike Ride New year 2023
Meditation is a powerful tool for achieving a sense of calm and focus. However, for me, riding a bike in beautiful places is just as effective as meditation.
On December 29th, 2022, my friends and I closed out the year with an exciting bike trip from Mumbai to Goa. Our journey through Goa had several chapters, and here is a summary of our adventure.
Summary - We finally put an end to our procrastination and turned our Goa trip into a reality. With less planning and more execution, we decided to go at the last minute during New Year's, which resulted in hotel/hostel charges that were six to ten times higher than normal. Let's dive into the details of our journey.
Bike Setup and Items to Carry - My friend and I each had our bikes - I had a Honda Hness 350, and my friend had a Royal Enfield Classic 350. We packed one luggage bag with three pairs of clothes, a thermal, a riding jacket, boots, gloves, a full-face helmet, and photocopies of our RC, DL, insurance, and PUC. Additionally, we carried other essentials like sanitizer, masks, sun cream, wet wipes, toiletries, a brush, bandanas, medicine, a first aid kit, a power bank, a bike mobile charger, a mobile charger, a tool kit, and a puncture kit. For extra safety, we also carried a clutch, accelerator wire, spark plug, and battery fuse.
Route Map with Halt Details - Our journey began at 4:30 am from Mumbai, although we had planned to start at 3 am. The roads were excellent until Nipani. We took the old Mumbai-Pune highway NH 48, which had a beautiful six-lane road from Mumbai to Pune, then a four-lane road to Satara, and finally a two-lane road to Nipani. Lane work extensions are already in progress on the Kolhapur route.
The route was good for day and night travel, but there were a few tractor trolleys carrying sugarcane without reflectors, which could be risky and dangerous at night. Therefore, we recommend taking proper safety precautions and avoiding over speeding as you may suddenly find a tractor trolley in front of you, making it difficult to control your vehicle.
After a few kilometers of Nipani, we entered a beautiful village and headed towards the Amboli Ghat, which is one of the longest and most scenic ghats in Maharashtra. The cold breeze and scenic views make it an ideal place to relax and unwind. After a few kilometers, the ghat ends, and we merged with the Goa highway NH 66 that led us to our destination.
3) We planned to start from 3 am however actual started at 4:30 am from Mumbai. Roads are extremely good till Nipani. From Mumbai to Pune by old mumbai- pune highway NH 48 having beautiful 6 lane road from Pune to Satara then 4 lane road till Nipani. Extension of lane work is already in progress on kolhapur route.
